Over 1 billion people worldwide live with some kind of disability – they’re the world’s largest minority. 80% of people living with disability live in the world’s poorest countries; they’re the most disadvantaged. Together with our generous supporters, CBM works in four ways to transform the lives of people in poverty with disability:

Prevention: through community education and vaccination programs, we’re helping prevent diseases that can lead to disability - and sometimes even death. We also work with local agencies and government bodies to make sure people with disabilities will have access to the help they need in times of emergency, to prevent further disability or injuries.

Inclusion: We stand together with people with disabilities, fighting against stigma and discrimination and helping people with disabilities be more included in their families and communities. We also make sure people with disabilities are included in agendas and policies that fight poverty.

Treatment: Our trained medical staff provides surgeries or treatments needed to restore hope and life to people with disabilities.

Ending the Cycle: We help end the cycle of poverty and disability by promoting an understanding that all people are equal, and breaking down physical and social barriers that stop people with disabilities from fully participating in all aspects of life.
